Orbits

The energy of orbits sent these Japanese glass fishing balls to this remote Moonlit lava tide pool on Maui in the middle of the Pacific. Movement of the sun, moon, tides affect us in ways we really don't understand, though we think we do. Our senses pick up only a small part of the energy surrounding use...there is so much more. It's not what you can see that's important, it's what's you can't see. These Japanese glass fishing ball used to be common, now they are all plastic. There is no beauty in a plastic fishing ball.


This photo was taken using only moonlight around 10:30pm just outside of Hana, Maui in 198o using a organic time lapse technique that I developed. If you look carefully you can see the moon reflected on the glass ball. It is not a double exposure or photo manipulation.
